Bollywood star Akshay Kumar’s mother Aruna Bhatia died at Mumbai’s Hiranandani Hospital on Wednesday, hours after the actor asked fans to pray for her health. Akshay said he is unbearable pain. 

“She was my core. And today I feel an unbearable pain at the very core of my existence. My maa Smt Aruna Bhatia peacefully left this world today morning and got reunited with my dad in the other world. I respect your prayers as I and my family go through this period. Om Shanti,” Akshay Kumar wrote

On Tuesday, Akshay Kumar took to social media to write,“Touched beyond words at your concern for my mom’s health. This is a very tough hour for me and my family. Every single prayer of yours would greatly help,” he wrote.

The 53-year-old ‘Bell Bottom’ actor, on Monday returned to Mumbai from the UK, where he was shooting, to be with his ailing mother. She wasunwell for a few days and was admitted to the Hiranandani Hospital.

Akshay had on mother’s day written a note for his mother on social media, saying she was the only one who could comfort him in troubled times.

“Even in this day and age, you’re the only one whose one hand on my head can comfort me in troubled times because I know there’s nothing I can’t do with your blessings maa. Happy #MothersDay,” his mother’s day post read. 

Several Bollywood stars condoled the death. “Dear Akki, Heartfelt condolences on your mother’s passing away. May Arunaji’s soul find eternal peace. Condolences to you & your family. Om Shanti,” Ajay Devgn wrote.

‘Airlift’ actor Nimrat Kaur wrote, “So very sorry for your profound loss. Deepest condolences and my heartfelt prayers to you and the whole family in this grave hour. Satnaam wahe guru,”

Aruna Bhatia and her husband Hari Om Bhatia initially lived in Punjab’s Amritsar, where Akshay Kumar was born. Hari Om Bhatia was an army officer who enjoyed wrestling. From Punjab, the family shifted to Delhi’s Chandni Chowk and later to Mumbai, where Aruna gave birth to a daughter. Aruna Bhatia lost her husband in 2000.
