Badminton star Jwala Gutta and Tamil actor-producer Vishnu Vishal took to social media to announce their engagement on Monday. Gutta, an Arjuna award winner, posted a picture on Twitter of her flaunting the engagement ring. Incidentally, September 7 also happens to be her birthday.

Vishnu flew all the way to Hyderabad on Monday to make Jwala Gutta’s 37th birthday even more special by marking September 7 as their engagement day. The Commonwealth gold medalist, who last played badminton during the BWF professional circuit in 2017, has been in a relationship with the cricketer-turned-actor for two years.

Gutta made an announcement on Twitter saying, “N dis happened last nite n what a beautiful surprise it was! Towards our family, Aryan, friends and work!its gonna be another great journey am sure”.

Both of them posted happy pictures on social media with family and friends celebrating Jwala’s birthday.

During an interview with Hyderabad Times after the engagement, Vishnu Vishal said, “I wanted to do something special for Jwala for her birthday and then at the spur of the moment, I thought why not surprise her by popping the question. It was something we had discussed before and last night, it just felt like the right moment. It was a spontaneous gesture and thankfully, she said yes.”

Vishal will feature in Manu Anand’s thriller – FIR (Faizal Ibrahim Raiz) that is scheduled to release soon after some dubbing is done. Meanwhile, Gutta is busy with the Jwala Gutta Academy of Excellence, a 55 acre property with 14 courts and a seating capacity of 600 people located on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
