Adele, an English singer-songwriter, in a recent interview, opened up about the pain of missing her young son, Angelo. She talked about how she feels being separated from her son due to professional demands in the song “Hold On”, from her upcoming album 30.

While speaking to Oprah Winfrey for the US TV special Adele: One Night Only, the singer revealed that the song was inspired by the advice she generally receives from her friends.

Reading some of Adele’s lyrics back to her, Winfrey said “The the lyrics of this song are so brutally honest”.

In her new track, Adele sings, “I’m such a mess / The harder that I try I regress / I’m my own worst enemy / Right now I truly hate being me”.

When asked about the song’s interpretation, Adele responded “My friends always would say, ‘Hold on’ when I would feel like the lyrics in the verse. But it was just exhausting trying to keep going with it. It’s a process. You know, the process of a divorce, the process of being a single parent.

She added that the process of not seeing her child every single day was not the plan that she had when she became a mother. The process of arriving for yourself every day, turning up for yourself every single day, and still running a home, running a business said, Adele.

Adele married charity entrepreneur Simon Konecki in an intimate ceremony in 2016 after dating him for five years. The couple shared nine-year-old Angelo but got divorced in 2019.

CBS will air One Night Only on Sunday, November 14, 2021, and a UK air date is still yet to be announced.

The special show will have a clip of Adele performing new material at a show in LA along with the interview with Winfrey.
