Alia Bhatt completes a decade in Bollywood today. She made her big screen debut in the film Student of The Year directed by Karan Johar alongside Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan. She is currently at the pinnacle of her career and is undoubtedly among the top actors in our country. 

She will soon make her Hollywood debut opposite Gal Gadot and Jamie Dornan in the Netflix action movie Heart of Stone. 

Regardless of the criticisms that she faced at the beginning of her career, Alia has always proved her mettle with each new film of hers.

Alia Bhatt’s career as a movie star has largely been successful. Even the movies that didn’t end up grossing a lot of money at the box office had strong openings, reinforcing the fact that she is adored by the general public. 

A year and a half after her debut with Karan Johar’s Student of the Year, Alia was seen in the film Highway. She effortlessly portrayed a young woman with both angst and innocence who finds her freedom while she is restrained. 

Over the years, Alia has evolved as an actor and performer and has acted in some path-breaking films.

Alia appeared in the films Badrinath Ki Dulhania, Raazi, Gully Boy, and Kalank between 2017 to 2019. Badrinath, was a commercial extravaganza, whereas Kalank didn’t do well at the box office.  However, Alia played her part in Raazi and Gully Boy with bravery and conviction and with these roles she proved herself as a versatile actor.

In Raazi, Alia’s performance received critical acclaim and the film also had a pleasant box office number. Alia played a spy who had to choose between love, familial piety, and her country. 

Her film Gully Boy was also selected as India’s official entry in the International Feature Film category at the 92nd Academy Awards. 

In 2022, her film Gangubai Kathiawadi had a worldwide collection of around ₹209.77 crores and the Indian box office net collection was around ₹129.10 crore. The film emerged as a commercial success and Gangubai Kathiawadi is the fourth-highest-grossing Hindi film of 2022 so far.

Two of her films Gully Boy and Gangubai Kathiawadi also premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival, and Alia Bhatt received critical acclaim for both of her films. 

She has also debuted as a producer this year with her Netflix film Darlings which premiered worldwide on August 5. She starred as the protagonist in the film which took on the serious subject of domestic abuse and the film had a dark comedic tint.   

Her latest film Brahmastra with Ranbir Kapoor has a worldwide box office collection of over Rs. 400 cr and is the highest-grossing Hindi original of the year.

Alia Bhatt’s career graph has always been on the rise and there was no looking back for her ever since her debut. She has also been the recipient of the IIFA Awards, Filmfare Critics Awards, and the Zee Cine Awards. Alia has also been honored with the Time 100 Impact Award and she is the only Indian on the list this year.
