Andra Dey won the Golden Globe Award 2021 for the Best Actress in Motion Picture, Drama for her role as Billie Holiday in ‘The United States vs Billie Holiday’.

The other nominations in the category were Viola
Davis for ‘Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom’, Vanessa Kirby for ‘Pieces of a
Woman’, Frances McDormand for ‘Nomadland’ and Carey Mulligan for ‘Promising Young Woman’.

While all these ladies gave some powerhouse performances but some of the strongest contender in the category were Carey Mulligan’s work in ‘Promising Young Woman’ along with Vanessa Kirby for ‘Pieces of a Woman’.

Carey Mulligan’s plays a dark character of a strong and witty woman Cassie, who is traumatised by some tragic event of her past which she re-encounters, while Vanessa Kirby in ‘Pieces of a Woman portrays a young mother reeling from a series of loss.
