Anees Bazmee’s much awaited directorial, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, is expected to resume its shooting in September amid lack of clarity regarding safety guidelines in film sets. Starring Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani, the film’s shooting had to be held back in March due to the rising cases of COVID-19 in the country and the following nationwide lockdown.
The cast and crew were in Lucknow when this happened.
Speaking to Mid-day, the director of the film said that they had to go back to Lucknow to shoot the film, where the huge set they had built has been left untouched for a long time.
“The safety of our cast and crew is of utmost importance to us. Only when we receive the permission from the (Uttar Pradesh) government, will we resume work on the film. Hopefully, we will revisit Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 by September”, Anees Bazmee said.
The sequel of 2007 blockbuster Bhool Bhulaiyaa was set to release on July 31. Now that there are around 35 days of shooting left, no new release date has been announced yet. Kartik Aaryan was supposed to step into the shoes of Akshay Kumar, who played the role of a witty psychologist in Bhool Bhulaiyaa alongside Vidya Balan and Shiney Ahuja. In the sequel, Tabu features in a pivotal role.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa was the official Hindi remake of ‘Manichitrathazhu’, a Malayalam psychological comedy thriller that was released in 1993. The film had received overwhelming reviews from both critics and audience .
