Black is the new Red (hot) and therefore the next Superman will not be a white man going around killing bad guys but a black man donning cape. Warners and DC, according to a report, are committed to hiring a Black director for the first cinematic incarnation of Superman featuring a Black actor.

While the next Superman will likely be announced with the name of director, the lead actor could be a relative unknown, as was the case with Brandon Routh, who wore the cape for Bryan Singer’s 2006 Superman Returns and Henry Cavill for Zack Snyder’s 2013 “Man of Steel”. Author Ta-Nehisi Coates would be writing the screenplay for the upcoming film, though the script isn’t set to be delivered until mid-December.

The change in the colour of Superman was celebrated by many on social media with people calling it the perfect move.
