‘Sweet Tooth’ is an upcoming American TV series based on the DC comic book by Jeff Lemire and will globally premiere on June 4 on the OTT platform Netflix. It is narrated by James Brolin and the executive producers are Robert Downey Jr, Susan Downey and Jim Mickle. The series will be of eight episodes and is set to take place years after “The Great Crumble” that changed everything.

Jim Mickle said, “We wanted to make a show that offers escape and adventure, where nature is reclaiming the world and in many ways it feels like a fairytale. ‘Sweet Tooth’ is a new kind of dystopian story, it’s very lush and hopeful. We want people to come into this world where there’s beauty and hope and adventure. This is a sweeping story — we ride on trains, climb mountaintops, run through forests. This is a show about what makes a family, what home really means, and why it’s important to keep faith in humanity”.

The cast comprises Christian Convery, Nonso Anozie, Adeel Akhtar, Aliza Vellani, Stefanie LaVie Owen, Dania Ramirez, Neil Sandilands, Will Forte and James Brolin. Linda Moran and Amanda Burell also serve as executive producers alongside other writers.

It was in July 2020 that New Zealand permitted the show to be filmed despite the restrictions that arose due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was reported that the shooting for the series was halted for months due to the pandemic until it continued again.
