Who were Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev‘s parents?
Anzor Tsarnaev and Zubeidat Tsarnaeva are ethnic Chechens who moved to Kyrgyzstan from Russia in the 1990s. They later moved to the United States with their family in search of better opportunities.

Anzor worked as an auto mechanic, while Zubeidat was a homemaker. The family lived in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where they were known to attend a local mosque. The couple had four children: Tamerlan, Dzhokhar, and two daughters.

Zubeidat has been described as a strong-willed and religious woman who became increasingly radicalized in the years leading up to the bombing. She has been accused of promoting extremist views and has claimed that the attack was a government conspiracy. Zubeidat and Anzor separated in 2011, with Anzor eventually returning to Russia.
Tamerlan, the older of the two brothers, had a strained relationship with his parents in the years leading up to the bombing. Tamerlan had also reportedly become estranged from his mother after she was arrested for shoplifting in 2012.
