Pop sensation Britney Spears‘ housekeeper alleged that the singer struck her during a dispute on Monday. The ‘Criminal’ artist is charged with misdemeanor battery and is under investigation over the accusations. However, no one was injured in the alleged squabble, reported Associated Press.

The staff member reported the incident on Monday from Spears’ Southern California residence following which the deputies responded and began an investigation, said the Ventura County Sheriff’s office.

Reports taken by deputies will be handed over to prosecutors for consideration, the sheriff’s office said, giving no further details.

Britney Spears’ attorney Matthew Rosengart issued a statement via email. “The investigation is overblown sensational tabloid fodder — nothing more than a manufactured,” the statement read.

“Anyone can make an accusation but this should have been closed immediately,” Rosengart said.

This comes after the ‘Slave’ singer’s legal battle against her father, Jamie Spears, to be dismissed from her conservatorship has just ended. After a long dragged court case, Britney’s father has agreed to relinquish the conservatorship of her estate.

Jamie Spears has been in charge of his daughter’s affairs since she had a mental health breakdown in 2008, consented to step aside in court documents filed on Thursday.

The pop star’s attorney, Mathew Rosengart in her response to Britney’s father stepping down, has stated that they look forward to continuing their vigorous investigation into the conduct of Jamie Spears, and others, over the past 13 years. She describes the period as the one in which James Spears reaped millions of dollars from his daughter’s estate.

Britney also alleged that her father refrained her from getting married and start a family.

Meanwhile, Britney Spears remains to be looked after by personal conservator Jodi Montgomery. The singer’s mental health concerns have never been discussed in public.
