During his live performance in Boston, comedian Chris Rock confronted an audience member who was yelling “f*** Will Smith.” Chris acknowledged the Oscars incident briefly during his recent performance on Thursday, during which Will punched him in the face over a joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. Chris made a joke about Jada’s hair resembling Demi Moore’s shaved head in the film G.I. Jane.

During the most recent show, a Chris fan yelled “f*** Will Smith,” to which he responded, “No, no, no, no, no.”  On Thursday, Chris performed two gigs at the same location in which he addressed the subject for the first time. During his first performance, he addressed the audience about their weekend and remarked, “I have a whole show… that I wrote before the weekend, so, if you came here for that I’m still processing it. I will talk about it, and it will be serious, and it will be funny, but not tonight.”

Chris stated after his second performance that he has not spoken to Will since the incident. “I haven’t talked to anyone, despite what you heard,” he said, adding that he didn’t want to “talk about that s***.”

“Except for some other pretty weird things,” Chris later informed the crowd, “life is pretty good right now.” According to The Hollywood Reporter, the comedian received standing ovations during the hour-long act.

For the unfamiliar, this performance is part of Chris’ Ego Death World Tour, which continues through the fall. Will made this appearance after apologising on Instagram for hitting Chris onstage during the live Academy Awards presentation on Monday. “I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness,” Will wrote on Instagram.

“Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive. My behaviour at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally,” he said in his apology.
