American pop star Britney Spears’ father Jamie was suspended from the conservatorship that has controlled the singer’s life and money since 2008. Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny agreed with a petition from the popstar and her attorney, Mathew Rosengart, that Jamie Spears needs to give up his role as conservator.

What is next for Britney Spears?

Now that the conservatorship is suspended, Jamie Spears will be replaced by a certified public accountant – John Zabel – chosen by Britney’s team. The accountant is a temporary fiduciary conservator. Further, a hearing on November 12 will determine the complete termination of the conservatorship. Jamie,  Jodi Montgomery, a licensed conservator who oversees Spears’ healthcare and other personal affairs and all others involved in the arrangement have agreed.

For Britney, the arrangement’s dissolvement means her assets would be returned to her control, and she would no longer have a professional conservator overseeing her medical care and other personal life matters. This could also mean that Britney Spears might resume concerts.

What does this mean for Jamie Spears?

Mathew Rosengart, Britney Spears’ attorney since July has pledged that his team would investigate Jamie and others involved in the conservatorship. The singer’s financial records will be handed to the public accountant.

Jamie Spears might also face investigations in relation to the recent revelations about him spying on his daughter.

On Wednesday, Britney was not present at the hearing and did not participate in any way. Her father connected remotely but did not speak during the proceedings. His attorney argued that there was no justification for his removal.

Britney expressed her excitement hours after her father was suspended. “On cloud 9 right now !!!!” the pop star wrote alongside a video of herself flying a small aircraft.

“First time flying a plane and first time in a prop plane !!! Geez I was scared !!! Pssss bringing the ship home, JL … Stay classy beautiful people,” she wrote soon after the Judge Brenda Penny suspended Jamie Spears as the conservator of his daughter’s estate.
