In a lawsuit filed last Friday, a woman alleging sexual assault by sitcom star and comedian Bill Cosby has sued him for sexual battery after five other women sued him in early December. The suit, filed in New York’s Supreme Court, alleges plaintiff Stacey Pinkerton was sexually harassed by Cosby in 1985 when she was 21 years old, reported CNN.
According to the lawsuit, Cosby is accused of using his power and influence to “groom and sexually assault” Pinkerton, who was pursuing a career in modeling and working as a flight attendant at the time. The complaint claims that Cosby drugged and sexually assaulted her when they had dinner under pretenses about building her career in the media industry, according to a CNN report.

In another incident months later, Cosby invited Pinkerton to a show at the Chicago Theatre and forced her to kiss and touched her without consent, according to the suit.
The suit claims that Cosby engaged in the same or similar pattern of conduct with his other victims, by showing interest in building their careers as a means to drug and sexually assault them.

In 2018, The Cosby Show star was sentenced to 3 to 10 years of imprisonment for charges involving drugging and sexually assaulting another woman but was released in 2021, after Pennsylvania’s Supreme Court overturned his sexual assault conviction.
In addition, Pinkerton is suing NBC, Kaufman Astoria Studios, and Carsey-Werner Company, all of which managed the Cosby Show, for negligent hiring, negligence, supervision, and retention.

Pinkerton has accused Cosby of sexual assault openly in the past, but her suit comes after a New York Law was passed that allows survivors of sexual assault one year to sue their perpetrators even if the statute of limitations on their claims has expired.

In December 2022, five women filed a lawsuit against Cosby under the New York Adult Survivors Act.
