Don’t Worry Darling is a 2022 American thriller directed by Olivia Wilde. The film was first announced in August 2019 after her first directorial film Booksmart was a huge success.
The filming began in Los Angeles in October 2020, but there was huge media coverage and debate surrounding the movie’s problematic production, which included contradicting accounts of Shia LaBeouf‘s exit and alleged tensions between Olivia Wilde and Florence Pugh.
In an interview with Vogue, filmmaker Olivia Wilde said that she was inspired to make this film after meeting with Gloria Steinem at a gathering in New York, shortly after the election of Donald Trump.

Don’t Worry Darling Plot
Set in 1950, the film follows a housewife portrayed by Florence Pugh and her husband (Harry Styles) as they live in an experimental utopian village.
Initially, everything seemed to be smooth among the couple, but then she starts to suspect that her husband along with his glossy company is hiding a lot of unsettling truths. She further develops a curiosity about the nature of her husband’s work on the secret “Victory Project”. This curiosity and investigation by Alice develop tension in the family as well as the community.

In an interview with Vogue, Olivia Wilde said that the film would revolve around two questions. “What are you willing to sacrifice in order to do what’s right?” “Are you willing to blow up the system that serves you?” Additionally, she called her latest movie “The Feminine Mystique on Acid.”
