CBS‘ daytime show ‘The Talk’ suffered a second blow after host Elaine Welteroth exited the show on Wednesday. The former Teen Vogue editor-in-chief’s decision came two weeks after her co-host Carrie Ann Inaba announced her departure. Welteroth has done only one season with the Daytime Emmy Award-winning show.

“It is an absolute honor for anyone, but especially a young Black woman, to occupy space on-air where our perspectives are largely underrepresented,” Welteroth, 34, said in a statement, as per USA Today. She had joined ‘The Talk’ as a  full-time host from January 2021.

“We wish Elaine all the best. We are grateful for her passion, enthusiasm, and insight she brought to the show daily. Her openness and meaningful conversations were attributes we admired and always appreciated,” Deadline quoted the show’s executive producers, Heather Gray and Kristin Matthews.

“It was gratifying to be able to show up as my authentic self in front of a live national audience every day in a world as divided as ours and to stay true to myself and what I stand for, Welteroth told Deadline.

The show is down to three permanent co-hosts in Sheryl Underwood, Amanda Kloots and Jerry O’Connell. e Sharon Osbourne was replaced by O’Connell in July. In doing so the actor became ‘The Talk’s’ first permanent male co-host. Kloots joined the show in January, replacing Marie Osmond. Underwood, the longest tenured co-host, joined the show’s second season in 2011. Season 12 of the CBS show is scheduled to start on September 13.
