The Primetime Emmy Awards are back for their 73rd
edition and will be given out at an in-person ceremony. This is definitely a
step towards normalcy but there are a number of restraints. An estimated
500 guests will be allowed to attend the ceremony. The event typically takes
place in a traditional theatre but this year the ceremony is set to take place
at L.A. Live’s Event Deck.

The nominations for this year’s edition were announced
in July with Netflix receiving 129 nominations as compared to HBO and HBO Max’s
combined 130.

The ceremony will be hosted by Cedric Antonio Kyles better
known as Cedric the Entertainer. The 57-year-old is best known for his roles in
‘The Neighbourhood’ and ‘The Steve Harvey Show’. He told CBSN, “Television got us through this
last year,”

He added, “Everybody
started binge-watching everything. And it was something we trusted, and so I
think that that’s what we should honour this night. So, I want to have fun with
the people who are there, being celebrated, being honoured, all those who are
being nominated — we just going to make it a party, and I want the people at
home to feel the same way about it.”

A number of
familiar faces will be presenting the awards this year. The
list includes Kaley Cuoco, Mindy Kaling, Vanessa Lachey, Dan Levy, Eugene Levy,
Paulina Alexis, Anthony Anderson, Angela Bassett, Amy Poehler, Billy Porter,
Michaela Jaé (Mj) Rodriguez, Seth Rogen, Tracee Ellis Ross, Hailee Steinfeld,
Patrick Stewart, Kate Beckinsale, Adrien Brody, Stephen Colbert, Jennifer
Coolidge, Jessica Long, Annie Murphy, Catherine O’Hara, Sarah Paulson, Wilmer
Valderrama, Kerry Washington and Bowen Yang among
others.
