Esther Jenner, Caitlyn Jenner’s mother, died at the age of 96, Caitlyn Jenner announced in an emotional Instagram post on Friday.

“I am heartbroken to announce my mom passed away yesterday morning, peacefully,” Caitlyn wrote in the post. ” Losing a mother is unique in the sense that she is the only person that loved me my entire life. I will miss her tremendously. She was a few weeks shy of 97 and lived a full life. Love you mom,” she added.

Esther Jenner’s husband

Her husband William Jenner died in 2000 of cancer at the age of 77.

William was born on February 7, 1923, in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada, to Bertha Mae and Hugh Burton Jenner. In 1942, he joined the army and displayed exceptional bravery as a member of the 5th Ranger Battalion, landing on Omaha Beach on D-Day. His valor during his service earned him the prestigious Bronze Star and Purple Heart.

He continued to serve through the occupation and was honorably discharged in November 1945. During his time in the army, he also participated in the Army Olympics and pursued his passions for water skiing and flying ultralight airplanes. After his military service, he embarked on a career in tree surgery and landscaping before eventually finding employment at the Sierra Boat Co. in Carnelian Bay, where he resided for 13 years.

She gave birth to four children with her husband William: two sons and two daughters – Lisa, Pamela Mettler, Burt (1958-1976), and Bruce, who later transitioned to Caitlyn.
