Social media users seem to share the sorrow of Hollywood actors who mourn the death of ‘The Wire’ actor Michael K. Williams, who was found dead at his New York apartment on Monday. He was 54 years old.

While some remembered Williams by the various projects he has been a part of, others scoped into the lessons he taught them through his way of living life.

“Micheal K. Williams’s role as Montrose in Lovecraft Country was powerful. Loved him as Omar too. I was always delighted when he’d appear on my screen, the man just had gravitas. RIP”, a Twitter user wrote.

Williams played the role of Omar Little, one of his most loved characters, on the show ‘The Wire’. According to media reports, the character he played on the show was the reason for Williams getting roped into using drugs.

Another social media user wrote, “We talked a great deal about the redemption of Lovecraft Country’s Montrose Freeman, but it would have been nothing without the skill of the great Micheal K. Williams. May he Rest In Peace.”

Social media users also noticed that a majority of the early 2000s celebrities had passed away, most of whom were liked by many.

A user listed his “all-time favourite celebrities” who had died. The list included David Bowie, Basketball legend Kobe Bryant, Linkin Park lead Chester Bennington and others.

Micheal K. Williams always understood the assignment. Elevated every role he took. And was always so kind and humble in person. Such a tragic loss. May he Rest In Peace”, a social media user wrote.

Williams’ spokesperson, in a statement to the Guardian, asked for privacy for the deceased actor family.

The spokesperson said that it is “with deep sorrow that the family announces the passing of Emmy nominated actor Michael Kenneth Williams. They ask for your privacy while grieving this unsurmountable loss”, the Guardian reported.
