The Duke was recently discharged from the hospital after a successful heart procedure. He was in the hospital for a month.

Many actors beautifully portrayed the twinkled-eyed charm of Prince Philip onscreen and on the OTT platform, the latest being ‘The Crown’ . Let’s take a look at such remarkable performances.

Matt Smith: He was the first actor to play Prince Philip on Netflix’s hit ‘The Crown’ and he excellently brought to life his acerbic wit and his playful side, as well as his occasional petulance, with his chemistry with co-star Claire Foy (who played the Queen), reports tattler.com.

Tobias Menzies: Tobias Menzies took over from Matt Smith after the first two seasons of ‘The Crown’. His storyline revolved around the reunion with his estranged mother Princess Alice of Battenberg in season three, to his relationship with Princess Diana in season four.

Jonathan Pryce: He will be taking over the role of Prince Philip for the final two seasons of hit Netflix series The Crown. The Peter Morgan-created show will conclude with its season six which will see actor Imelda Staunton replacing Oscar winner Olivia Colman as UK monarch Queen Elizabeth II. The show will start filming this summer.

James Cromwell: Another memorable time that the Duke has been portrayed on screen is in Peter Morgan’s feature film, ‘The Queen’.

Christopher Lee: Before the royal love stories of Harry and Meghan and William and Kate were brought to the small screen, there was ‘Charles & Diana: A Royal Love Story’, which aired in 1982. It starred the Lee in the role of Prince Philip.
