K-pop boy band BTS‘ “Dynamite” lost the Grammy 2021 award for best pop duo/group performance to Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande’s “Rain on Me.” This caused an outrage among the BTS fans who made #scammys trends on Twitter. 

“I don’t care about the #scammys but I hate that the boys feel like their worth is measured by their acknowledgment,” one fan tweeted.

“when #scammys is higher than the original hashtag u know somethings up BYE,” another fan wrote. 

Had BTS won the award, the band would have become the first musical act from South Korea to lift the trophy. “Dynamite” released in August 2020.
