With the main ceremony of the Grammy Awards just around the corner, fans of the musical award show were given a warm-up for the event in the Premiere Ceremony, where a flurry of awards were given out in various integral categories like ‘Best Rap Album, ‘Best Global Music Album’ and ‘Best Contemporary Christian Music Album’. 

The award for the ‘Best Rap Album’ was taken away by Nas for his album called ‘King’s Disease’. He beat four other nominees in the same category, including Royce 5’9′, D Smoke and Jay Electronica.

‘Best Contemporary Christian Music Album’, which had a total of five nominations including famous albums like ‘Holy Water’, ‘Citizen of Heaven’ and ‘Run to the father’ was secured by Kanye West, who was not present to accept the award on video conferencing. 

Justin Beiber grabbed his first Grammy award in the ‘Best Country Duo’ category for his collaboration with Dan + Shay in a track called ‘10,000 Hours’.

The ‘Best Global Music Album’ award, an accolade which had everyone’s eyes on it, was swept away by Burna Boy for his album ‘Twice As Tall’. Other nominations in the cut-throat category were ‘Love Letters’ by Anushka Shankar, ‘Fu Chronicles’ by Antibalas and ‘Agora’ by Bebel Gilberto.

In a team-up award, up-and-coming artist Megan Thee Stallion won the ‘Best Rap Performance’ category for her track ‘Savage’, made in collaboration with Beyonce.
