Imagine Dragons lead singer Dan Reynolds and guitarist Wayne Sermon showed up in support of striking writers at the Netflix headquarters in Los Angeles, California, on Tuesday. They came with a guitar, speaker, and microphone, and sang some of their hits at the picket line showing solidarity to the members of the Writers’ Guild currently on strike across the industry.

They performed hits such as hits like Radioactive and Whatever It Takes, as the crowd chanted ‘Imagine Dragons’.

The main reason why the Writers Guild is on a strike is pay. The union detailed how the takeover of evolving streaming giants had negatively impacted the compensation for writing. Streaming services’ use of smaller staffs — known in the industry as “mini rooms” — for shorter stints has made sustained income harder to come by. The number of writers working at guild minimums has gone from about a third to about half in the past decade.

Reynolds voiced his support for the ongoing writers’ strike in Hollywood, citing the need for better compensation for the creative talent behind the entertainment industry. Speaking to TMZ after the mini-concert, he asserted that writers have long been instrumental in the success of Hollywood, and deserve to be adequately compensated for their contributions.

The support comes as the writers’ guild continues its negotiations with major studios over fair wages and working conditions. Reynolds’ public endorsement of the strike is expected to lend further momentum to the cause of writers in the entertainment industry, who have been grappling with issues of pay parity and job security for some time.
