A man named Adam Sandler was labeled the suspect by the Santa Cruz Police Department in a warning about a community harasser who goes around dressed as the popular character Cookie Monster. Although the name is similar to that of the popular actor Adam Sandler or Hangover and Blended fame, they are not the same person.

On Wednesday the Santa Cruz Police Department said that the suspect has been loitering around at the beach and wharf locations. Complaints against him say that he is making uncomfortable comments about people and acting out.

The Dept says that Sandler has a “history of unpredictable vulgar comments and troublesome behavior” but he has not committed any crime. They also clarified to TMZ and other media outlets that Sandler is not employed by the city.

TMZ reports that Sandler was arrested in 2012 after he went on an antisemitic rant dressed as Elmo in Times Square.

The Dept asked people to come forward and seek help if Sandler harassed anyone anywhere.
