Bam Margera, a former “Jackass” actor, has spoken up about his recent near-death experience.

The stunt artist and skateboarder was admitted to the hospital on December 9, 2022, following a major pneumonia infection. Margera reportedly tested positive for the coronavirus in the future while being treated by medical professionals and was put on a ventilator.

Margera, whose full name is Brandon Cole Margera, has now revealed that his time in a hospital in San Diego, California, was far worse than most people realize because he also experienced numerous seizures.

On Thursday’s episode of “Steve-Wild O’s Ride!” podcast, the 43-year-old actor spoke with his former “Jackass” co-star Steve-O about the severity of his condition, which he said began with a “gnarly” case of coronavirus.

“I was basically pronounced dead on Elvis‘ birthday, December 8,” Margera explained. “I had no idea I had gnarly COVID.”

“My body was shutting down, and I went into four seizures, each one lasting 10 to 20 minutes, and on the fourth one, I bit my tongue so hard it was nearly falling off,” he added.

As a result, according to Margera, he unintentionally ingested “infected blood,” which led to aspiration pneumonia, which happens when food or liquid is inhaled into the airways or lungs as opposed to being swallowed.

“When the shaman drove me to the hospital, I went into my sixth seizure and I couldn’t breathe without a tube down my throat, he said. “It was so bloated and puffy, it wouldn’t fit in my mouth, and I was swallowing the infected blood, which gave me pneumonia as well.”

Margera continued, saying that when he came to five days after being admitted, he felt as though he had just been there “for a couple of hours” and had no idea how much time had elapsed.

He was released from the hospital after eight days, but “when they took that tube out, I felt like I sucked on Darth Vader’s dick.”

Steve-O recalled reading about Margera’s “critical but stable” condition and fearing the worst, but joked that his “first legitimate thought” was that Margera’s death could potentially derail his current tour.

“The important thing is that Bam’s not dead,” he concluded.

Margera and Steve-O are both well-known for their roles in the MTV prank show “Jackass” and its numerous feature-length films.

Margera was not a part of the most recent installment, “Jackass Forever,” which was released last year because he allegedly violated a contract provision requiring him to maintain sobriety while filming.

Margera filed a lawsuit against Paramount and “Jackass” co-creator Johnny Knoxville disputing his termination; the case was ultimately resolved.
