Jeff Beck, the renowned guitarist best known for playing with the rock band The Yardbirds died aged 78 on Tuesday, January 10. As per a statement released by his representative, the guitarist died after “suddenly contracting” bacterial meningitis. He is survived by his wife Sandra Cash, whom he married in 2005.

Beck was previously married to Patricia Brown for four years from 1963 to 1967. The couple eventually divorced but the reason for their divorce is not known. Since his divorce from Brown, Beck has dated celebrities like Wendy Moore, Heather Daltrey, and Celia Hammond. However, none of the relationships became serious.

He eventually married Sandra Cash in 2005 and the couple was happily married for 17 years before Beck’s death on Tuesday.

The details of the profession and other details of Becks’s wives are also not available in the public domain. 

Beck did not have any children from either of his marriages. 

Since his death, his representatives shared a statement from his Twitter profile in which they requested privacy at a time of great loss to the family.

“On behalf of his family, it is with deep and profound sadness that we share the news of Jeff Beck’s passing,” the statement said.

“After suddenly contracting bacterial meningitis, he peacefully passed away yesterday. His family ask for privacy while they process this tremendous loss,” it further added. 

Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour wrote a tribute on Twitter for Beck- his “dear friend”.

“I am devastated to hear the news of the death of my friend and hero Jeff Beck, whose music has thrilled and inspired me and countless others for so many years,” Gilmour said. 

“Polly‘s and my thoughts go out to his lovely wife Sandra. He will be forever in our hearts.”
