John Regan, a well-known musician, songwriter, and bassist, died on April 7 at his residence in Wappingers Falls in Poughkeepsie, New York. He was 71 years old. His cause of death remains unknown. Regan’s wife Cathy Merring-Regan confirmed the news on Facebook in a post shared by a family friend. He had been co-hosting a local radio show since 2014. Previously, he worked as the Wappingers Falls parks commissioner.

Career and Top collaborations

John Regan played The Chance Theater with Peter Frampton in 1971 and the early 1980s. In 1984, Regan joined the rock band Frehley’s Comet, the legendary group established by former Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley. The group released only three albums during its tenure in the music industry. This started with their self-titled debut album in July 1987. The album hit the 43rd spot on the US Billboard 200 charts. Their second album Second Sighting was released in May 1988. The album was well received by the audience and managed to gain the 81st position on the US Billboard 200 chart.

In 1990, Regan left Frehley’s Comet and continued to perform with musicians and bands like Dave Edmunds, The Rolling Stones, David Lee Roth, Robin Trower, John Waite, and others.

He again collaborated with Frampton to play on his 2006 album Fingerprints, which won the Grammy for a best pop instrumental album.
