Erling Haaland scored twice to hand Manchester City a 4-1 win over Southampton on Saturday. The striker hit a stunning bicycle kick and brought up his 30th Premier League goals in 27 games.

Playing at the St. Mary’s Stadium, Haaland opened City’s account, converting Kevin de Bruyne’s cross in the 45th minute. The away team led 1-0 at half-time.

Jack Grealish doubled Manchester City’s lead soon after the break. However, it was the Norwegian striker’s brilliance in the 68th minute that caught fans’ attention.

Grealish sent a cross only to see Haaland launch himself into the air and attempt a bicycle kick. The ball beat Southampton goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu and all players on the pitch stood stunned.

However, manager Pep Guardiola did not let Haaland go for a hattrick. The Spaniard took the striker off for Julian Alvarez in the 69th.

“No joke, Haaland would legit be closing in on 11-12 Messi’s 73-goal season were it not for Pep constantly subbing him off and making it all about him and his tactical genius 🙄” a Twitter user said.

The World Cup-winner – Alvarez- scored a penalty in the 75th minute.

“Man City sold Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling who both combined to score 30 goals for the club last season and replaced them with Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez who already have 58 goals between them this season,” another Twitter user added.

“I love Haaland! He really him. Idc what people say. He’s him!!” a third one tweeted.

Haaland has now reached 30 goals in 27 Premier League games, which is the fastest. He now has 42 goals in all competitions for Manchester City. He hit five against RB Leipzig in Europe before scoring a hat-trick in the FA Cup a few days later.
