Korean drama Snowdrop’s plot of South Korea’s democracy legacy with North Korean theme has led to boycott of the series by many youth wings and social media users. Now, the makers, and sponsors have also dissociated with the show adding more trouble to the show.

Some of the main sponsors including Teazen, Ssarijai and Ganisong have terminated their sponsorship deals already.

Also, Puradak Chicken, a local chicken franchise using Jung Hae-in, the main actor of Snowdrop as an advertising model, has withdrawn its sponsorship for the new TV series broadcast by JTBC, reports bangkokpost.com

The show is centered on a love story set in 1987 of a university student played by Jisoo, K-pop girl band BlackPink’s member, and a North Korean spy played by Jung.

The first two episodes of the drama were broadcast last weekend, and it has sparked a strong backlash for allegedly distorting historical facts about the nation’s democratisation movement.

Recently, a youth organization in South Korea has announced that they will will file a court injunction to stop the airing of the Korean drama starring Jung Hae-in and BLACKPINK’s Jisoo. The members of the group, called The Declaration of Global Citizen in Korea, accused the drama of beautifying state violence.
