K-pop band SHINee released their seventh studio album “Don’t Call Me” on February 22. The album also has a lead single of the same name. SHINee’s “Don’t Call Me” marks the band’s first involvement together in three years, since their 2018 LP The Story of Light.

According to a report in Rolling Stone India, the album is conceivably their darkest release yet. The report says that the lyrics are full of contempt.

The lyrics – “You just search my name all day/ You find my traces and lick them” and “I keep telling you/ There is no ‘next time’ in your life/ I’m no longer your love/ Erase it, forget about me please/ I don’t know you/ So don’t call me, – address an ex-turned-obsessive stalker, warning people to stay away

The album, in terms of sound, has experimented with different blends of dark synth, trap, EDM and hip-hop. They have also added a pinch of drama with intricate piano-led bridges and their signature complex vocal harmonies.

A Rolling Stone India report says that the “rolling, bass-heavy synth” that is present in most tracks is something new that SHINee has given their fans.

The music video, on the other hand, showed boldness in the set design and visuals.

Including its title track, Don’t Call Me features a total of nine songs: “Heart Attack,” “Kind,” “CØDE,” “I Really Want You,” “Kiss Kiss,” “Body Rhythm,” “Attention,” and “Marry You.”
