Abdul Hayee, known by his pen nameSahir Ludhianvi, was an Indian poet and cinema song lyricist who predominantly worked in Urdu in addition to Hindi. His works had an impact on Bollywood films in particular in Indian cinema. For Taj Mahal, Sahir received a Filmfare Award for Best Lyricist (1963). He was recognised for his lyrics in Kabhie Kabhie with a second Filmfare Award as Best Lyricist (1976). In 1971, he received the Padma Shri honour. A commemorative stamp was released in Sahir’s honour on March 8, 2013, the ninety-second anniversary of his birth.
