A man is being praised on social media after he supported his Tinder friend give birth to a baby on their fourth Tinder date.

Alyssa Hodges, 20, from Brisbane, Australia,  who was pregnant, was going to meet Max Silvy, 25, for their fourth date when she went into labour in September last year. She was going to pick up Max from the airport when her water broke at eight months and she had to meet him in the hospital instead.

“I was about six-and-a-half months pregnant when I went on Tinder, and I clearly stated that on my bio. I didn’t want to lead anyone on, so I was being open and honest. I wanted them to know what they were getting into right off the bat,” Alyssa said in an interview.

“Max travels a lot for work so we’d only seen each other three times before he ended up coming to my birth. On the day I went into labour, I was meant to be picking Max up from the airport as he was coming back from a work trip. That was the plan, but I ended up texting him, saying: ‘I’m so sorry, you’ll have to get a taxi. I’m going into labour,” she added.

After the plane landed, Max visited the hospital. Alyssa’s labour went on for a week and Max stayed by her side for the entire time.

“My mum was also there supporting me. But she had a holiday, so she was here and there. Max was there for me through the whole labour and birth,” Alyssa said.

Alyssa said that her mother was initially unsure about the idea of Max being with her while she was giving birth and asked her to think about it. “She didn’t understand why anybody would want to be with someone who was pregnant and take such a big responsibility on. But at the same time, she was saying Max was a lovely guy and she hoped it’d work out for us,” Alyssa recalled.

“We both knew that we liked each other and had strong feelings for each other. But the birth was the peak point of our relationship, it bonded us. Looking back, I know it was the best decision ever. I’m so glad he was there,” Alyssa said.

Max said that Alyssa’s pregnancy was not an issue but he admitted that being there for the birth made him feel “anxious”.

“I hadn’t prepared mentally the way Alyssa had, so coming in late [like I did] was a rapid process. Anxiety was the biggest thing. There were so many unknowns, so many things that I didn’t know about becoming a dad. There’s a lot of learning that comes with being a new dad, but I and Ollie are bonding quite well,” Max said.

“Ollie loves Max so much. There’ll be times where he won’t want me, he’ll want Max. He’ll be crying and the minute Max takes him, he’s happy and smiling. Max is definitely the favourite,” the new mom said.

While one user wrote, “That’s a man! What a keeper!! I hope you have many years together.” Another asked, “Does Max have a brother by any chance?” A few third said, “So, so special. What an amazing man.”

The couple is now planning to move in together.
