Michelle Yeoh became the first woman of Asian descent to win the award for best female actor in a leading role at the Screen Actors Guild Awards Sunday night. She received the award for her role in Everything Everywhere All at Once.

“I think if I speak, my heart will explode,” she said as she took the stage. “SAG-AFTRA, to get this from you, who understands what it is to get here. Every one of you knows the journey, the roller-coaster ride, the ups and downs. But most importantly, we never give up. I thank you.”

“I thank you for your love, for your support, because I know I am up against titans,” she continued, trying to hold back tears. “Thank you, thank you, thank you. This is not just for me, this is for every single girl that looks like me.”

The latest win follows her 2023 Golden Globe win for best actress in a motion picture, musical or comedy.

The Malaysian actress’ net worth is estimated to be $40 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

Yeoh married Hong Kong entrepreneur Dickson Poon, owner of businesses such as Harvey Nichols and Charles Jourdan, in 1988. The duo split in 1992. She then got engaged to Alan Heldman, an American cardiologist, in 1998. However, the engagement was later called off. In 2004, she started dating Jean Todt, who was at the time the general manager and CEO of Scuderia Ferrari and later the president of the FIA.
