Moon Bin, K-pop boy band ASTRO star, died at his home on Wednesday. He was 25 years old. South Korean entertainment news outlet Soompi first broke the news.

Entertainment company Fantagio confirmed Moon Bin’s death. In a statement on Twitter, it said, “I would like to express my apologies for bringing you such heartbreaking and heartbreaking news. On April 19th, Astro member Moonbin suddenly left us and became a star in the sky.”

“Although it cannot be compared to the grief of the bereaved families who lost their beloved sons and brothers, the Astro members who have been with us for a long time, as well as our Fantagio fellow artists and executives, are deeply mourning the deceased in great sadness and shock,” the statement further read.

The company urged fans to ‘refrain from speculative and malicious reports so that the bereaved family who are deeply saddened by the sudden sad news can reverently commemorate and greet the deceased’.

Soompi, quoting Seoul Gangnam Police Station, reported that Moon Bin’s manager found his body in the Gangnam district, Seoul property on April 19 at around 8:10 PM KST.

“We are currently discussing the possibility of an autopsy to determine the precise cause of death,” the police officials said, according to the report.

“It appears that Moonbin took his own life,” they added.

In South Korea, if a death is suspicious, an ‘autopsy will be carried out regardless of the wishes of the family’. Authorities will have the final say on whether a post mortem.

However, a precise timeline is not available at the moment.

Moon Bin made his debut on February 23, 2016. He starred in popular K-drama ‘Boys Over Flowers’.
