Celebrated music composer AR Rahman on Friday expressed gratitude on
Twitter to fans and well-wishers for their prayers after his mother, Kareema
Begum, died last month, PTI reported.
The Oscar-winning composer who has composed music in multiple regional
as well as Bollywood films, turned 54 on Wednesday.

Rahman marked the occasion with a Twitter note, explaining how grateful
he was for the support he received during the ‘difficult times’.
“Thank you for your prayers and condolence messages during this
difficult time; I will forever remember your kindness and concern”, the note
displayed.
“May the
Almighty bless you and let this be an amazing New Year”, it further added.
Rahman began his
creation of film-scores with 1992 Tamil film ‘Roja’, and has since gone on to
win several awards, including the Padma Bhushan in 2010, alongside two Academy
awards, a BAFTA award and two Grammy awards his various musical contributions.

Additionally,
the composer was nominated for two Oscar awards, and received one in 2009 for ‘Best
Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures’ his work in the movie Slumdog
Millionaire which he shared with Gulzar.
In recent
professional ventures, Rahman will be creating the soundtrack for Aanand L Rai’s
‘Atrangi Re’.
