The red carpet for the 95th annual Academy Awards has been rolled out. The star-studded ceremony will be held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California, on March 12. Jimmy Kimmel will host the event. Several streets in Hollywood have been closed ahead of the event. Let’s take a look at some of the lanes that are closed –

  • Hawthorn Avenue from Highland Avenue to Orange Drive
  • Orchid Alley from Orange Drive to Orchid Street
  • Orchid Street from 60 feet south of Franklin Boulevard to Orchid Alley
  • Orange Drive from Orchid Alley to Hollywood Boulevard
  • North sidewalk of Hollywood Boulevard in front of the Dolby Theatre portal
  • North curb lane of Hawthorn Avenue from Highland Avenue to Orange Drive
  • South sidewalk of Hollywood Boulevard from Orange Drive to Highland Avenue

In a first since 1961, the Oscars carpet is not read this year.

“I’m thrilled, I’m honored, I’m excited, mostly about the carpet. I mean, this carpet is so beautiful. It’s a remnant, we got it for a very good price downtown,” Kimmel quipped of the carpet.

“People have been asking if there’s going to be any trouble this year, is there going to be any violence this year? I certainly hope not. But if there is, I think the decision to go with a champagne carpet rather than a red carpet shows how confident we are that no blood will be shed,” he added.

Rihanna, who is nominated for the Academy Award for Best Song for ‘Lift Me Up’ from ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, will be performing at the event. Other performers include Sofia Carson, Diane Warren, David Byrne, Stephanie Hsu and Son Lux.
