The September 11 attack on the United States may have been one of the worst to ever hit the country, however, the entertainment industry played a major role in enlightening the masses about what went into combatting the threats that followed.

Hollywood has made multiple blockbusters that explained the situation America was left in after the deadly attacks that killed thousands. On the other hand, numerous shows and documentaries have also been released that provided an insight into the response of the United States.

Here are the top shows that have been made on the 9/11 attacks:

1) Zero Dark Thirty

The film, which was released in 2012, revolves around Operation Neptune Spear, a specially designed mission by United States intelligence and military officials to locate and strike against Osama Bin Landen. The film is narrated from the lens of Maya Harris, an analyst for the CIA. The star cast includes Chris Pratt, Jessica Chastain and Jason Clarke.

2) My Name Is Khan

A Bollywood movie, starring actors Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, explores the story of Rizwan Khan, a Muslim man, whose step son was killed by his American schoolmates, who think his father was affiliated with those who carried out the 9/11 attack. 

3) 9/11: Inside the President’s war room 

The documentary, which was released earlier this year, explains what happened the first 12 hours after the attacks and what actions were taken by then United States President George W. Bush. The documentary also released never-heard-before audio clips of the White House situation room.

4) New York

The Bollywood flick explores the story of three Indian-origin friends who resided in New York City and how their life changed after the deadly September 11 attacks. Sameer ‘Sam’ Sheikh, who is played by actor John Abraham, was subject to intensive interrogation by US authorities.

5) United 93

The 2006 film, which is based on real-life events of United Airlines flight 93. The flight was hijacked by Al-Qaeda affiliates. The move explains what happened to the flight that crashed before reaching its target, the White House.
