In a career that spanned over two decades in the music industry, Udit was the brains behind innumerable hit tracks of his time. So many of his songs have been remastered that its hard to keep track now.

Other than Hindi, he sang in numerous other languages including Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, Odia, Nepali, Bhojpuri, Maithili, Nepali and Bengali.

In his early days, Udit struggled to make a name for himself in the industry following his debut in 1980 as a playback singer. His career began with him working for Nepal Radio as a folk singer where he had to sing songs in Maithili and Nepali.
