Actor Richa Chadha-starrer ‘Shakeela’ will be hitting the theatres on
Christmas, filmmakers revealed on Monday. This was announced during the
launch of film’s new poster in which the ‘Fukrey’ actor was seen in yellow saree
with a gun in her hand.

Indrajit Lankesh has directed the movie and the story revolves around the
character of Richa, who is a titular adult actor in 1990s.

The film was supposed to release earlier this year, but the pandemic
shifted it to Christmas. “This year, Christmas gets hotter in cinemas”, read the caption of the poster.

‘Shakeela’, which is based on the actor’s journey from rags to riches
has been a passion project for him, Lankesh said. After doing research and
several personal interviews with the actor, he knew only Richa Chadha could fit
this role, he added.

After Manoj Bajpayee’s ‘Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari’ and Tilotama Shome’s ‘Sir’,
‘Shakeela’ is the third Bollywood movie going to release in theatre after the
Central government’s order to reopen the cinema halls under Unlock 5.

Cinema halls are advised to have only 50% occupancy with all the
protective measures.

“This film will aspire our young generations to become a part of the
film industry as this industry is much more than glamour and flashiness,” Lankesh said.

Pankaj Tripathi and Malayalam actor Rajeev Pillai are also part of ‘Shakeela’.
