Actor Sean Penn faced backlash for his comments regarding the Will Smith and Oscars slap in a trending interview with Variety.

The actor in the Variety interview reacting to the Oscars fiasco said, “I don’t know Will Smith. I met him once. He seemed very nice when I met him. He was so fucking good in ‘King Richard. So why the fuck did you just spit on yourself and everybody else with this stupid fucking thing? Why did I go to fucking jail for what you just did? And you’re still sitting there? Why are you guys standing and applauding his worst moment as a person?”

Penn then said that he eventually made the decision to destroy his Oscars. “I thought, well, damn, you know?” he said. They will go to Ukraine. They are meltable and can be made into bullets for use against the Russians.

The remarks made by Penn were heavily criticized on social media. One user wrote, “Let me get this straight, somehow Sean Penn is upset at Will Smith because the Oscar’s didn’t invite Ukraine’s President to speak at the Oscars? “It never would’ve happened if Zelenskyy got invited”. 😂 Celebrities are not serious people.

One user wrote, “Sean Penn is way worse. OMG. As a pacifist, I hate violence, but the amount of hate Will Smith had gotten for a bitch slap is insane & fueled by anti-Black racism.”

Sean Penn made multiple controversial comments in the interview which led to severe criticism. He also reacted to Donald Trump’s infamous mugshot which was taken in Fulton County Jail.

He added, “It would be awful, embarrassing, dangerous, numbing, stupefying, unloving of our children to elect Donald Trump president.”
