Actor Shahid Kapoor took to his social media to share an exciting update on his much-awaited film, ‘Jersey’. The film’s release got deleted due to COVID-19 and now will release in theatres on December 31, 2021.

Sharing a new poster from the film, Shahid Kapoor announced that his much-awaited film’s trailer will be released tomorrow, November 23, at 5.30 pm.
Shahid shared the good news and wrote, “ITS TIME ! We have waited to share this emotion with you for 2 years. This story is special. This team is special. This character is special. And the fact that we get to share it on the big screen with you all is special. I don’t have words to express my gratitude. I hope you all feel what I felt when I played him. Here we go (sic).”

The film is the remake of Telugu sports drama of the same name starring Nani. Gowtam Tinnanuri, who directed the Telugu film, is helming the Hindi film as well. Shahid will essay the role of a retired cricketer, who struggles to make a comeback.
Shahid had wrapped the shoot of the film in December 2020. The actor trained hard for his role of a cricketer in the film.

The original ‘Jersey’ was made in the budget of Rs. 25 crores and collected around Rs. 50 crores after its huge success at box office.
The storyline of the film is about a man in his mid 30’s struggling to get an opportunity to play for the Indian Cricket Team. produced by Allu Aravind, Suryadevara Naga Vamsi, Aman Gill and Dill Raju.
Earlier Telugu actress Rashmika Mandanna was casted for the movie later she was replaced by Mrunal Thakur for reason unknown.
The film’s shooting started in November 2019 in Chandigarh.
The film was earlier scheduled to release on 28 August 2020 but delayed owing to corona pandemic. However, after the news of theatres reopening from October 22 in Maharashtra state, the makers officially announced that the movie will release on 31 December 2021.
