Former basketball player Shaq O’Neal clapped back at rapper Kanye West as West brought up O’Neal’s partnership with Jamie Salter.

“Shaq is in business with Jamie Salter. Jaimie first said he’s 50/50 with David Beckham and 50/50 with Shaq. I said “Jamie . . . There’s no such thing as 50/50 in business . . . Who has the extra 1 percent for the control and voting rights,” the rapper tweeted as he took a jibe at Shaq’s association with Salter’s company.

“Jamie then said he’s actually got the 51% on both those deals. We as the creators and talent get so caught up in our vanity that we don’t read or understand the fine print like Dave Chapelle said, we need to stop giving up control over our own names and our likeness,” West continued.

Salter, a Canadian billionaire businessman, is the current CEO and chairman of Authentic Brands Group, which manages Shaq’s name and likeness.

Salter and Shaq’s partnership took place late last year, which made the latter the second largest shareholder in Salter’s company. Shaq has been a shareholder in Authentic Brands Company since 2015.

Shaq tweeted a witty response, “Believe me you don’t know me like that. Worry about your business, and to quote the once great Kanye West ‘I got more money than you, so why would i listen to you,’ take my advice get your family business in order. Have a great day brother.”

The issue started when Shaq criticised NBA player Kyrie Irving for publicising “Hebrews to Negroes: Wake Up Black America!”, a controversial film with anti-Semitic elements.

“It hurts me sometimes when we have to sit up here and talk about stuff that divides the game,” Shaq commented on fellow basketball player Irving’s endorsement.

West took offense to Shaq’s criticism, and tweeted “they make us bully ourselves because of our business alignments.” West also posted a photo of Irving on his Twitter.

West and Irving, both have been accused of anti-Semitism in the past. West is notorious for endorsing the White Lives Matter slogan, and posting hateful content against the Jewish community. Irving on the other hand  received a five-game ban after he posted the link to the earlier mention film on his Twitter.
