Social media platform Instagram has recently flagged a video posted by pop star Madonna Louise Ciccone for sharing wrong information about the COVID-19 pandemic.

Her video featuring Dr. Stella Immanuel, a primary care physician in Houston, Texas, claims that hydroxichloroquine cures COVID-19. “They would rather let fear control the people and let the rich get richer and the poor get poorer”, Madonna captioned her video.

In the video, Immanuel claims to have treated 350 patients of COVID-19 with the drug and is seen talking to a group called America’s Frontline Doctors speaking outside the US Supreme Court building at an event organised by Tea Party Patriots Action.

Soon after, Instagram blurred the now deleted video and makerd it as “false information”. According to the platform, it reduces the visibility of the post which has been flagged.

Previously, Facebook and Twitter removed the video from the platforms for spreading misinformation. US President Donald Trump and his son had shared the video on Twitter. Trump Jr. was banned from posting on the platform for 12 hours.
