As Tamil superstar Suriya Sivakumar celebrates his 46th birthday, the actor took to Twitter to unveil the title and first look of his upcoming film, which was tentatively called Suriya 39.
The movie is titled ‘Jai Bhim’, which is a greeting used by the followers of Ambedkarism.
The actor will be playing a lawyer who fights for the justice of a socially marginalised community.
While the film is written and directed by journalist-turned-filmmaker TJ Gnanavel of Kootathil Oruthan fame, ‘Jai Bhim’ boasts of a stellar supporting cast, including Rajisha Vijayan and Prakash Raj. If one goes by the poster, the film is expected to be politically relevant and socially conscious.
Suriya is producing the film under his production banner 2D Entertainment. The actor announced the title of the film on Twitter and wrote, Excited to share the First Look of

This comes after the makers unveiled the teaser and posters of Suriya’s highly-anticipated 40th film titled ‘Etharkkum Thunindhavan’. The film is written and directed by Pandiraj and features Suriya as a gangster, marking the third collaboration between Suriya and Pandiraj after Pasanga 2 and Kadaikutty Singham. Music composer D Imman will be composing the background score of the film.
Actor Dulquer Salmaan also extended his wishes to Suriya on his birthday, congratulating him for the actor’s upcoming film and wrote, “This looks epic !! Happy birthday @Suriya_offl anna !! Praying for all happiness health and success !”
The release of the Netflix anthology Navarasa is scheduled for August 6. The segment titled ‘Guitar Kambi Mele Nindru’ and directed by Gautham Menon stars Suriya. The nine-part anthology is presented by Mani Ratnam and marks the actor’s reunion with Gautham Menon after a gap of 13 years. The duo last worked together for Vaaranam Aayiram in 2008.
