In an iconic moment, Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj shared a hug at the MTV VMAs 2023 red carpet.

Here is a photo of the moment:

Although there were whispers of Swift attending the VMAs this year, there was no prior confirmation, which made fans cross their fingers and hope for the best. When she did show up, she posed on the red carpet at the same time as rapper Minaj, who showed up in a light pink outfit, complete with a wedding veil.

When both the stars were done posing their heart out and making the shutterbugs happy, they walked toward each other and gave each other a warm hug.

Swift delighted her fans by attending the awards night this year. She stunned in a black dress with gold detailing.

Swift and Minaj did not always have the best of relationships. When the ‘Bad Blood’ songstress was in the middle of her Reputation era, and was nominated for and eventually won the “Best Music Video of the Year” at the MTV VMAs, Minaj’s ‘Anaconda’ was not even nominated in the same category. It simply got nominated for “Best Hip Hop Video” which left the rapper visibly upset.

“If I was a different ‘kind’ of artist, ‘Anaconda’ would be nominated for best choreo and vid of the year as well,” she said at the time and later added, “When the ‘other’ girls drop a video that breaks records and impacts culture they get that nomination.”

She also noted that women with “slim bodies” were celebrated in the industry — a comment which got Swift offended. “I’ve done nothing but love & support you,” she publicly wrote to the “Starships” artist, per The Atlantic. “It’s unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot.”

Minaj got confused by Swift’s comment. “Huh? U must not be reading my tweets. Didn’t say a word about u. I love u just as much,” she responded.

Swift later apologized for the misunderstanding. “I thought I was being called out. I missed the point, I misunderstood, then misspoke. I’m sorry, Nicki,” she wrote.
