Telugu actor Mahesh Babu recently tested positive for the coronavirus, according to a statement released by him on Instagram and Twitter, this Thursday.
The actor addressed the note to his fans and stated that while he had taken all necessary precautions, he has tested positive and has been experiencing mild symptoms of the virus. The actor said that he has quarantined himself at home, and is under medical expert guidance.
The 46-year-old Telugu icon further urged all those who came in close contact with him, to immediately get tested. He concluded his statement by encouraging others to get inoculated, as doing so, could lessen the severity of the symptoms.
The ‘Maharshi’ star tested positive shortly after returning from Dubai, where he had celebrated the New Year with his family.
Posted nearly 15 hours ago, the Instagram post has garnered more than 4,20,000 likes and over 13,000 comments. Many fans have poured in with get well soon wishes on the post.

Responding to the post, many actors also sent their wishes to the star. Telugu and Tamil actor Anushka Shetty wrote, “take care Mahesh garu… wishing you a speedy recovery”.

Responding to the statement on Twitter, ‘RRR’ actor Jr. NTR wrote, “Get well soon anna. Sending you strength and prayers.”
On the work front, Mahesh Babu is set to release his next Telugu film ‘Sarkaru Vaari Paata’.
The film, directed by Parasuram, is set to have its theatrical release on January 13, 2022. Also starring Keerthy Suresh in the lead role, the film was mostly shot in Dubai. The film is the first collaboration between Parasuram and Mahesh Babu.
The Telugu actor was last seen in his blockbuster hit, ‘Sarileru Neekevvaru’. The film had a box office collection of over ₹200 crores. Directed by Anil Ravipudi, the film revolves around an army soldier, who rescues his family from the grasp of a big politician.
