Adapted from Jenny Han’s literary works bearing the same title, the Amazon Prime Video series chronicles the journey of a young girl named Belly, who habitually spends her summers alongside family and friends at Cousins Beach.

While the setting of Cousins Beach is fictional, the series found its real-world backdrop in the locale of Wilmington, North Carolina, and its picturesque neighboring beaches, including Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, and Wrightsville Beach.

Frequently dubbed “Hollywood East” or affectionately known as “Wilmywood,” Wilmington has served as the cinematic canvas for numerous television shows and films across the years. Among its notable credits are teen dramas like Dawson’s Creek and One Tree Hill, along with major blockbuster successes such as Iron Man 3. This vibrant filming hub has also played host to the production of the fifth installment of the Scream franchise and multiple adaptations of Nicholas Sparks’ novels, contributing to its well-deserved reputation as a cinematic hotspot.

Season 2 was shot at several of the identical coastal locations as the first season. This includes the memorable snowy scene with Belly and Conrad that’s showcased in the trailer. Notably, this specific sequence was captured at Fort Fisher State Recreation Area due to certain limitations on using artificial snow at Wrightsville Beach.

The stunning beachfront residence owned by the Fisher family is situated within Porters Neck Plantation, an exclusive gated community featuring a golf course, in Wilmington. This residence served as the backdrop for numerous exterior scenes in the series. These scenes include Belly’s arrival at the house and the family’s Fourth of July celebration held in the backyard. Nonetheless, a significant portion of the indoor scenes, including the kitchen, were captured on sound stages at Screen Gems Studio, also located in Wilmington.

The television series portrayed the country club where Jeremiah, another of Belly’s crushes, along with her brother Steven, are employed. Belly frequently attends various events at this club leading up to the debutante ball. The exterior scenes of the club were primarily shot at Cape Fear Country Club.

While several interior scenes were also filmed at this location, the actual debutante ball was depicted within the premises of St. Mary Catholic School, situated in Wilmington.
