The eight-time Olympic gold medallist, 35, has turned fully towards music and is working on a follow-up to his album Country Yutes, released last September, The Sun reports.

“Music is just a part of me. In lockdown I wasn’t doing much so I thought I could take the opportunity to get into music as it is something that I love to do,” he told The Sun, reports Dialymail.co.uk.

“For me the album we did was just to show people that we were serious. When we started out people thought I was just messing around and bored with nothing to do but I wanted to let them know I was serious.

“I wanted to do a proper body of work and put it out there. Now we have done that, people are reaching out to work with us so I am going to be doing a lot more this year.”

The former Sprinter also added that he was keen to collaborate with other artists in the UK and had reached out to several of them already. His debut record helped give him his first Billboard top ten in their reggae album charts.

He also previously produced three dancehall EPs in 2019, including Immortal Riddim and Clockwork Riddim.

His other projects include two appearances for Australian football club Central Coast Mariners, with Bolt opting to leave after just eight weeks despite being offered a permanent contract.

In an exclusive interview with MailOnline earlier this month, Usain admitted he still strives for perfection in everything he does.

“It’s definitely been hard, but I’ve started music and that’s a new challenge for me. I have a family now so that’s a challenge for me.

“I have thought about acting but I don’t think it’s for me. I’m more into music and I’ve started producing music, which is something that I wanted to do so for me that is the direction my life is going into right now.

“I put an album out Country Yutes. I did the intro so you hear my voice there, but I produced the album,” he told the publication.
