The Jaipur Literature
Festival or JLF is the world’s largest free literary festival held every year
in January in Jaipur. Founded in 2006, the festival is an initiative of the Jaipur Virasat Foundation (JVF), founded by Faith Singh, which was initially a part of the Jaipur
Heritage International Festival in 2006. It grew into an autonomous
festival of literature in 2008. All the shows and events at the JLF are free
and doesn’t require tickets.

City’s Diggi Palace Hotel serves as the
main venue of the festival. Several sessions takes place in the hotel’s Hall of
Audience and across the gardens of the Diggi Palace. The JLF team includes founder sponsor and festival advisor of the
festival, Surina Narula and festival directors Namita Gokhale and William
Dalrymple, who are writers as well. The literature festival is produced by Sanjoy
Roy of Teamwork Arts. 

The registration process
of JLF is as follows:

  • Applicants only
    above the age of 18 are eligible. Applicants who have not turned 18 on or
    before December 31, 2020 will not be considered.
  • The correct details
    should be filled and the form should be read thoroughly before submitting.
  • The first round of
    selection will be based on a group interview over zoom call. When shortlisted, applicants
    will be requested to go through the Festival’s history, previous programmes,
    directors’ profiles and organiser information.
  • Every important
    communication will be done through email. But if applicant fail to respond to
    emails, reminder or phone calls from organisers during the selection process
    and training he/she will not be considered and their position will be offered
    to another deserving candidate.
  • After the first
    round, a mandatory training programme for all shortlisted applicants will be
    conducted prior to the Festival.
  • Once selected, you need
    to sign an undertaking that outlines your arrangement with the Festival.
  • All candidates will
    be awarded a certificate with their name and recognition of their work at the
    Festival after completion of all assigned tasks.

JLF has also organised several events in many cities across
the world, known as JLF International.
