The final trailer for the upcoming video game film Uncharted is now out.

The film, starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg, is directed by Zombieland and Venom filmmaker Ruben Fleischer. It is based on Naughty Dog’s successful action-adventure video-game series for PlayStation consoles.

The movie is a predecessor to the video games and features a young Nathan Drake. It will take place before the events of the original game, and will centre on Nathan Drake’s life.

The film will also show how Nathan met his long-term partner and father figure, Victor “Sully” Sullivan (Wahlberg). In the most recent clip, Nathan and Sully join forces to locate a buried treasure of a certain Ferdinand Magellan. Sully also appears to have information on Nathan’s long-lost sibling but is keeping it to himself.

Despite supporters’ reservations over Holland’s casting, the film looks fantastic. Of course, trailers are not often a fair indicator of the final product, but it appears to offer viewers precisely what they would want from an Uncharted game: cinematically pleasing if perhaps exaggerated action and stunts, as well as plenty of humour.

Nathan’s appearance does not like the video-game version, but it is evident that both Holland, best known for playing Spider-Man in Sony’s films, and the creators are not specifically trying for realism with the original material.

Tati Gabrielle, Sophia Taylor Ali, and Antonio Banderas also appear.

“Street-smart Nathan Drake (Tom Holland) is recruited by seasoned treasure hunter Victor “Sully” Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg) to recover riches accumulated by Ferdinand Magellan and lost 500 years ago by the House of Moncada,” according to the summary of Uncharted.

What begins as a heist job for the duo quickly turns into a globe-trotting, white-knuckle race to the treasure before the savage Santiago Moncada (Antonio Banderas), who believes he and his family are the legitimate heirs. If Nate and Sully can decode the clues and solve one of the world’s oldest mysteries, they could discover $5 billion in treasure and possibly even Nate’s long-lost brother… but only if they can learn to cooperate.”
