During the sentencing hearing, Judge Nicholas Dean KC did not mince words with the defendant, Pottinger. The judge stated that Pottinger should not be under any illusions about the severity of his conviction, describing it as a “serious offence.” He went on to say that it was inevitable that Pottinger would be facing a long sentence of detention or imprisonment.

Who is Shiloh Pottinger?

Shiloh Pottinger, 20, stabbed Luke O’Connor with a 13in ‘Mafia Stiletto’ blade. He is the son of a rapper and is a musician himself who goes by the name OSU. According to the The Daily Mail, a row broke out between Pottinger and O’Conner – both friends – while they were walking back with two other friends in the student area of Manchester.

Charles Robertson, one of the students, walked past Pottinger, who was holding a skateboard, and asked him if he could ‘do a kick-flick’. He reacted in a violent and unpredictable manner, attacking Mr. O’Connor, the victim in the case.

CCTV footage played to the jury showed Pottinger striking Mr. O’Connor on the head with his skateboard before the skateboard flew out of his hand during a second strike. Pottinger then threatened Mr. O’Connor with a flick-knife, and the two engaged in a physical altercation, with both pushing each other. However, the situation quickly escalated, and Mr. O’Connor was repeatedly stabbed in the body by Pottinger during the scuffle, causing serious injury.

The disturbing footage presented in court made it clear that the altercation was both violent and intense, with the victim ultimately suffering life-changing injuries.

The prosecution in the case against Pottinger alleged that he fled the scene of the attack on Mr. O’Connor, disposing of his skateboard and jacket and washing his clothes in an effort to avoid detection. However, despite his efforts, Pottinger was apprehended by authorities two days later. The police were able to recover the weapon used in the attack, a bloody knife that Pottinger had reportedly purchased from the internet.
